Saskatoon Wildlife Biathlon Club Biathlon Participation COVID-19 Safety Rules

Saskatoon Wildlife Biathlon Club recognizes that COVID-19 exists within our community and wish to see our athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers and guests remain healthy. SWBC encourages all athletes, coaches, officials, parents and spectators to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Provincial Health Orders: All athletes, coaches, volunteers and guests shall adhere to the public health orders that are in effect and may be revised from time to time. If public health orders and the rules below are in conflict (not additive), then the public health orders take precedence. Illness:
A pre-screening assessment for COVID-19 will not be required. However, all athletes, coaches, volunteers, spectators, members, and public who participate in or attend SWBC programs and events are expected to self-monitor for signs of illness.
DO NOT COME TO PRACTICE IF SICK
You are expected to self-monitor for signs of illness including: fever greater than 38°C, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, chills, headache, runny nose, conjunctivitis, nasal congestion, muscle or joint aches and pains, loss of sense of smell or taste, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite (or difficulty feeding for children), or fatigue.
If you are ill or have any new or unexplained symptoms above, follow provincial health CoVID-19 guidelines.
Close Contact:
If you have been informed that you are a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case, do not attend practice. Follow provincial health CoVID-19 close contact guidelines.
General:
Spectators are permitted to attend but shall follow the same rules as athletes, coaches, and volunteers.
Arrive no earlier than required to get yourself set-up for practice and check in with a coach.
Range Set-Up:
Biathlon mats may be shared as required. The best practice depending on practice attendance will be to assign mats for individual use. Biathlon mats shall be sanitized after use and between sessions.
Each shooting lane may be used, noting that the SWBC lanes are 3.0m wide.
Hygiene:
Wash your hands with soap and water prior to leaving your home to the practice facility.
Wash or sanitize hands upon arrival. It is recommended to carry hand sanitizer with your person or in your vehicle (you can sanitize and dry hands while still in the warmth of your vehicle).
Practice good hygiene etiquette of sneezing/coughing into your sleeve.
Wash or sanitize your hands after any contact with your nose, mouth, etc. during the practice.
Wash or sanitize your hands when entering the clubhouse.
Use of Masks:
Use of a mask during practices or other training events is not necessary when physically distancing and outdoors.
All persons including athletes shall wear a mask when indoors. This includes entering the storage unit and the clubhouse.
A buff can be used as a non-medical mask, so long as it’s worn properly (ie. masks must cover both the mouth, nose, and have two layers). Fleece only buffs are not accepted as a mask.
It is recommended to bring multiple masks as breathing and cold can freeze them.
Equipment:
Do not share water bottles, food or personal items.
Equipment may be shared at practices. All shared equipment will be sanitized after use to be clean before the next use. Sanitization products will be available at practices for periodic cleaning.
Clubhouse and Equipment Storage unit:
The clubhouse is necessary as a warm-up space for athlete safety in cold weather.
Persons entering the clubhouse should sanitize hands and are required to wear a mask.
Sanitizer will be provided at the entrance of the clubhouse for use.
All persons including parents and spectators may use the clubhouse but are encouraged to limit their use allowing for more available space to athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.
The equipment shed shall not serve as a warm-up space to prevent crowding of persons.
After practice:
“Get in... Train... Get out”. Mingling should be minimized.
Cleaning and Disinfection:
The SWBC will provide disinfectant and other cleaning supplies.
The SWBC will provide hand sanitizer.
The SWBC will clean/disinfect any equipment shared between athletes.
The SWBC will clean/disinfect commonly touched surfaces and shared equipment at the end of practice or between training group practices.
Athlete personal equipment and gear should be visibly clean.
